Link Monsters and Pendulum Monsters are not allowed in yugioh genesys. All other monster types (Fusion, Synchro, Xyz) can be freely used. The original field layout returns, with no Extra Monster Zones or Pendulum Zones needed.
The standard Forbidden & Limited Cards list does not apply in genesys format. Previously banned cards like Pot of Greed can be played, though the usual 3-copy limit per card still applies. This creates diverse deck building opportunities.
Most cards cost zero points, but powerful cards carry point values. Your Main Deck, Extra Deck, and Side Deck combined cannot exceed the event's point cap (standard is 100 points). Official Tournament Stores can customize point caps for their yugioh genesys events.
